Valleys Paragliding is ideally located in South Wales, close to an abundance of flying sites. Our training is structured to build confidence through safe, repeatable technique — from ground handling through to controlled flights and pilot development.
Meet Charlie Fryer
Founder & Chief Flying Instructor | Valleys Paragliding
My career began in the British Army, where I served for 24 years, starting out as a driver and progressing through the ranks to become a Transport Manager. Along the way, I discovered what would become my true passion — the great outdoors.
Throughout my military career, I embraced every opportunity to develop my skills in outdoor pursuits, gaining qualifications in kayaking, mountain biking, skiing and paragliding. What began as a love of adventure gradually developed into something much more rewarding — the opportunity to coach, instruct and share those experiences with others.
Of all the activities I pursued, paragliding captured my imagination like no other. My passion for the sport eventually led me to become Chief Flying Instructor at the Joint Services Paragliding Centre, where I gained invaluable experience in developing pilots, delivering training and helping people discover the freedom of flight.
Today, I’ve brought that experience and enthusiasm into my own school, Valleys Paragliding, based in the beautiful landscape of South Wales.
For me, paragliding is about far more than simply getting airborne. It’s about building confidence, developing skills, understanding the natural environment and experiencing the unique sense of freedom that only free flight can offer.
At Valleys Paragliding, my philosophy is simple: professional instruction, a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and a commitment to helping every student become a safe, confident and independent pilot.
Whether you’re taking your first steps towards learning to fly or looking to develop your existing skills, my aim is to make your paragliding journey safe, enjoyable and genuinely rewarding.

Training Standards
We are a BHPA registered school. All flying customers are issued temporary BHPA membership giving third-party insurance (see Terms & Conditions). For personal accident insurance including paragliding, customers should arrange this separately.
